Latteria di Chiuro was the first dairy cooperative in Valtellina to produce and distribute fresh drinking milk. Founded in 1957, tradition and innovation have coexisted here ever since. Tradition is an integral part of our identity and of the territory where we are fortunate to live and work; innovation and modern technologies are equally essential to ensure both animal welfare and the safety and goodness of our products. We support the development of our associated farms and the surrounding territory in a way that respects the environment and promotes the well-being of individuals and the community. We care about how resources and raw materials are used.

Latteria di Chiuro preserves its artisanal character far from large industrial realities. Since 2007, we have collaborated with local illustrator Inge Padovani to bring to life a small illustrated world on our packaging — one character for each product in our range.
The Latteria stands in the heart of Valtellina, a truly unique alpine territory known worldwide for the excellence of its typical products.
Our cooperative includes more than twenty local milk producers, all based just a few kilometres from the dairy. Their presence helps maintain a real and virtuous rural economy, supports social balance in our mountain communities, and contributes to everyone’s quality of life. All farms pay great attention to animal welfare, prioritising free-stall housing and allowing cows to graze in alpine pastures during the warmer months.
Positive synergy For many years, we have worked alongside local organisations to support mountain agriculture and to raise awareness of issues that matter to the wider community. One of our long-standing partners is Cooperativa Sociale Il Sentiero, an agricultural social cooperative that has been operating in Valtellina for over twenty years with the aim of integrating disadvantaged people into the workforce. Il Sentiero is dedicated to fruit production and supplies the extra jams used in the making of our yogurt. As an agricultural enterprise, it is also a point of reference for many small local producers and processors.
With the short supply chain project Agricola Valtellina, together with local social cooperatives — Il Sentiero, La Quercia, Il Gabbiano, Elianto, Strashare and Sol.Co — we have created a network of producers who believe in the quality of local production, short supply chains, social responsibility and a relationship of trust with consumers. Day after day, we work to build and sustain a virtuous mountain economy — environmentally, economically and socially sustainable — and respectful of the territory’s greatest asset: the nature that surrounds us.
