In 2023, we published our first Sustainability Report. The concept we chose to develop — “Together for a virtuous mountain economy” — clearly represents the synthesis of our founding values as well as our long-standing development goals, which have always been oriented towards sustainability and towards respect for and enhancement of our land of origin.
Care for animal welfare, the pursuit of high-quality raw materials, and the promotion of a short, transparent and controlled supply chain are just some of the pillars on which our corporate philosophy is built. A philosophy that, since 1957, has found concrete expression in the choices and development of Latteria di Chiuro.
We have been able to face the challenges imposed by market evolution without ever compromising the principles that are fundamental to us. We firmly believe that there is always “another way” of doing business. We are convinced that the efforts we make are essential to building and maintaining a virtuous mountain economy that is environmentally respectful, socially responsible and economically sustainable.
The quality of Latteria di Chiuro’s products is also guaranteed by the health of the ecosystem in which they are made. In our commitment to sustainability, we aim to adopt innovative solutions to reduce environmental impact and to improve the efficiency of the production cycle.

Today, we collect milk from 29 farms, all certified for animal welfare and characterised by non-intensive farming practices. The farms are located between Sondrio and Bormio, within a radius of approximately 30 kilometres from the dairy; this proximity is crucial, as it allows us to process the milk within just a few hours of milking.
29 supplying farms within a 30 km radius of the production site
Over 11 million litres of milk processed in 2023
100% locally sourced milk (Valtellina)
2,700 m² of production facilities
60% of total purchases from local suppliers (Valtellina)
Among the core values of Latteria di Chiuro is attention to animal welfare. This represents an important safeguard for the supply chain and product quality, as all the farms of our member suppliers have obtained certification in this area. Our short, transparent and controlled supply chain allows us to intervene promptly in the event of non-compliance, ensuring constant checks throughout the entire supply chain.
